Coming of age captured in all its complexity and melancholy by Sherrie Nickol
By Donnia Ghezlane-Lala
In a moving work, Sherrie Nickol captures everyday moments, the passage of time and the "coming of age" that we all go through.
Sherrie Nickol 's images nestle at the intersection of public and domestic space. Her street photographs manage to articulate intimate stories amidst a crowd. In her book soberly titled after her own name , published by Hirmer Publishers, she replays the scenes of family, friendship and love that she has witnessed throughout her career and that have stood the test of time. Nickol always disappears behind her camera, manages to make herself invisible.
